Recently, Orlando Weekly reported a strong rumor that Disney may be in the process of imagineering a Haunted Mansion themed restaurant at the Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World. Normally, we wouldn’t give credence to or consider perpetuating a rumor, but this one is a lot of fun to think about. The Haunted Mansion is one of the most popular fan favorite attractions worldwide, with one at every Disney park save for Shanghai Disney. It is our most favorite, personally.
There are absolutely no details released yet about the restaurant, or even if it would be expected to be a quick service restaurant or table service experience. The possibilities are limitless, almost. The main question that has been raised refers to the location of a new eatery- where would they put it? This issue aside, we can imagine that a Haunted Mansion themed dining experience would be one of the most unique on Disney property should it come to fruition.
We can’t help but refer to what happened with the Skipper Canteen, Disney’s newest addition to the popularity of The Jungle Cruise. This was the first dining location in the Magic Kingdom to be specifically designed to enhance the story behind an attraction. Skipper Canteen continues to rise in popularity and has already undergone a menu overhaul. We enjoy dining there for something different, and the Cast Member wait staff makes the experience truly special. Should Disney springboard from this, combining the popularity of the Haunted Mansion with an amazing themed location and even more happy haunts for all to enjoy, it would surely be a smashing success.
What do you think of this idea? Would you like to see a truly innovative Haunted Mansion themed dining experience at Walt Disney World?
