Joss Whedon Talks “The Avengers 2” And Robert Downey Jr.

Confessions of a Nerf Herder

To follow on from his comments last week, writer/director Joss Whedon has been talking to Desde Hollywood about The Avengers 2 and whether Robert Downey Jr. will be returning as Tony Stark. It’s well-known that Downey Jr.’s Marvel contract has now expired, with the actor himself suggesting that he may be done with the role.

Whedon said, “I am not the guy who has to worry about him being replaced. He is Iron Man at this point. When I heard that he was cast I knew that something had just changed, and I usually don’t know stuff like that. I was like ‘Now we are in a new phase.’ The way he embodies it… I love working with him. He is so perfect for it, Shane [Black – Iron Man 3 director] captures it so perfectly in this movie.”

Still talking about Downey Jr., Whedon then added, “I want him…

Last day on the Disney Fantasy

On the final day of our 7 day cruise to St. Thomas and San Juan, I sat and relaxed on the top deck. I waited as sunset approached and found myself alone with everyone else below at the party and final preparations. How often would an opportunity like this come up to take a shot with an empty deck.

Disney Villains Week: Scar Inspired Makeup

The Lion King is one of Disney’s best animated features.  The Circle of Life opening scene still amazes me every single time.  For Villains Week we wanted to do a Scar inspired look using oranges and dark browns.
Scar Eyeshadow Look
I would have liked the shadows to show true to color, but it didn’t photograph well.  There’s a golden highlight right under the brow and in the inner corner that you can’t really see.  We’re still figuring out a lighting situation, so hopefully it’ll start improving.

The New Trailer for Monsters University

Disney•Pixar has released the new trailer for Monsters University, opening in theaters on June 21. Directed by Dan Scanlon, the prequel features the voices of Billy Crystal, John Goodman, Steve Buscemi, Helen Mirren, Alfred Molina, Dave Foley, Sean P. Hayes, Joel Murray, Peter Sohn, Charlie Day, Nathan Fillion, Bobby Moynihan, Julia Sweeney, Aubrey Plaza, Tyler Labine, John Krasinski, Bonnie Hunt, Beth Behrs and John Ratzenberger.

Ever since college-bound Mike Wazowski (voice of Billy Crystal) was a little monster, he has dreamed of becoming a Scarer—and he knows better than anyone that the best Scarers come from Monsters University (MU). But during his first semester at MU, Mike’s plans are derailed when he crosses paths with hotshot James P. Sullivan, “Sulley” (voice of John Goodman), a natural-born Scarer. The pair’s out-of-control competitive spirit gets them both kicked out of the University’s elite Scare Program. To make matters worse, they realize they…

6 Things I Learned from the Disney College Program

Kelli Griffin

As the semester is winding down and summer approaches, I can’t help thinking about where I was this time last year. Instead of finishing projects and studying for finals, I was trying to wrap my mind around the fact that my time in the Disney College Program was drawing to a close.

For anyone who doesn’t know, Disney has an internship program for college students that allows them to come for a semester and work on Disney property. The jobs aren’t glamorous – I worked in the Magic Kingdom serving up Dole Whip, selling turkey legs and (my favorite) making funnel cakes – but it was definitely an experience that has shaped me and changed my perspective. A lot.

I have heard plenty of people talk about the program and say that it’s a waste of time, that it’s not a “real” internship and that taking a semester off to…

Quiet Elegance

Michael Lewis Glover | Fine Art Photography

Welcome to Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa! The architectural design of this place is a true marvel. On a recent visit to this spectacular hotel, I decided to wait around til later in the evening, hoping to capture some images without people. At 11:00 on a Sunday night, just about everyone had retired to their rooms after a full day of fun. I only had to wait a couple of minutes to get my shots. I love all of the details they put into the layout like the massive birdcage on the left or the giant urns on the table in front of me. And the lighting is unrivaled with those magnificent chandeliers! On the second floor in the back they have a band that plays a very nice variety of music throughout the day.

For this shot I setup my tripod down low to try and get as…

Disney Rewind: Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937)

Brian is 30...

Disney Rewind: Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937)

One of the personal goals I set for myself this year is to rewatch all 52 Disney Animated Classics (from Snow White to Wreck-It Ralph), with one movie per week.  I will blog about each movie; some will be more personal memories, others may be more about the cinematic aspects.  They won’t be reviews, per se, nor will they be summaries or analyses.  It will simply be my thoughts on the movies, whatever those thought’s may be.

Snow White has always held a special place in my heart.  It reminds me of my Aunt Reen, who was my favorite person in the world when I was a kid.  When I was 4, she brought me and Caroline to the movie theater to see Snow White and got me one of those Panini sticker books, where you’d buy baseball card-like packs of…
