Just another day at Disneyland (Oh, and new Fantasy Faire stuff, too!)

Disneyland castle in spring

A couple of weeks ago, Disneyland opened a new section of Fantasyland called Fantasy Faire. It’s basically a small annex beside Aurora’s Castle, but it adds an outdoor stage where they do short live-action plays about five times a day, and a Royal Hall where you get to meet princesses.

We didn’t have a particular plan to go, just sort of decided last minute (and hey, it’s only about an hour and a half away, so why not?), so last Tuesday we drove up and spent the day.

The flowers are blooming everywhere because it’s spring (even in the desert there are flowers, but I’ll get photos of that later this week), and Disneyland looked colorful and happy. Plus it was still the week before spring break, so no lines!

Of course we had to check out the new section, and the princess line was surprisingly short, so we…

Deborah's Disney Diaries

TIMG_1188he American Adventure, as I have said, is a terrific show in America in Epcot. During the Christmas season, there were wonderful carolers, but this show is so entertaining, multiple visits are encouraged.  Dr. Benjamin Franklin and Samuel Clemens( AKA Mark Twain), tell the story of America. Prior to entering the auditorium, one enters a escalator where all the flags that created America to the present one we are familiar with in present day.IMG_1197 Listening to the narrator as well as the conversation between Dr. Franklin and Clemens, one sits a little taller in your chair, and leaving you walk a little taller.

IMG_1196This little critter just made me smile. He or She simply deposited themselves near this family outside the American Adventure Auditorium was made it quite known of their presence, and didn’t seem to be at all bothered or shy about what they wanted. Since this is

If you haven’t seen “Once Upon a Time,” which is currently in its second season, then I highly recommend it. The show takes classic fairytale characters and puts them in modern-day Maine in a town called Storybrooke. The series starts off with a young boy, Henry,  leaving town to find his birth mother. He carries around a storybook full of fairytales and is convinced that everyone in the town is actually one of the characters from the book’s stories. It turns out that his birth mother, Emma Swan, is Snow White and Prince Charming’s daughter. Henry’s stepmother? The evil queen, of course!

Throughout the series, other well-known fairytale characters are introduced: Rumplestiltskin, Little Red Riding Hood, Cinderella, Jiminy Cricket, Pinnochio and many other fairytale favorites. The first season of the show dealt with the curse that the evil queen placed upon the land and how the curse is broken. The…

Eat.Breathe.Sleep.Magic.

I had a dinner recently at Epcot’s Via Napoli located in Italy in the World Showcase.  It serves authentic Italian fare, with 3 wood burning ovens, named after the 3 active Volcanos in Italy:  Etna, Vesuvio, & Stromboli.

I totally should have taken some atmosphere pictures for you, but forgot completely.  So this is just a quick post on the food we ate.  Both the entrees were very tasty, but the pizza could have easily fed 2 people!

Candele – candle stick pasta, sausage ragu, polpettine meatballs, mozzarella, ricotta $24.00

Signature Pies
Individual $19
Quattro Formaggi – mozzarella, parmesan, fontina, provolone

The dessert options weren’t all that enticing (personally, I thought there should be more chocolate).  The tiramisu wasn’t very sweet and the cherry covered gelato isn’t on the menu now, and I can’t remember the official name.
Tiramisu – Mascarpone cream, espresso coffee, lady fingers, and chocolate $8.00

FILMGAMER

Its not too hard to raise the stakes after The Avengers; if you make a personal story with a more looming uncertain threat you’ll have a winner. And from the looks of it, with a new director and style at the helm, Iron Man 3 could be the winner that 2 was not.

Disney Princess Art Collections

I'm All Ears

I have been perusing the Disney Store webiste lately, including DS Japan and UK and have come across a few art pieces/collections I think are wonderful!

This limited edition Disney Princes Gallery Collection was designed by a team of three artists under the supervision of Disney Senior Principal Character Artist Kim Raymond, and each print is one of only 250 pieces. Find it Here!

It looks like these beauties are only available via Disney Store UK. My favorites of the collection are Tiana and Belle, I think the artists captured something special with those two portraits.

Eric Tan brings a retro look to this poster art for The Little Mermaid.  ”Amazing Adventure Just Below the Surface” is modern while retaining a very classic Disney feel. Now, if only I had a home theater to hang it in… =P Find it Here!
